swizzle
I just recently noticed a post on a cache page that stated that the geocoin that was suppose to be in that cache is missing. A few of the cachers I know and myself think we know who took it. I checked the profile and the cacher has that identical coin but with the cachers name in front of the geocoins name. The only difference that I can see is two letters for the reference number are switched. Is it ethical to change the name of a geocoin and would that allow you to get a different reference number? The coin came up missing and within a few days the suspect cacher in the area released the same coin?!? Swizzle Quote Link to comment
BlueDeuce
You can't take someone's coin and simply take over ownership. You would have to adopt it and that requires the current owner's permission. Either way you can't change the reference number. You are looking at two different coins. Quote Link to comment

Kealia
Yup. Unless the person who picked it up somehow had access to the ACTIVATION CODE, he wouldn't be able to make any changes, edit the coin name, etc. Sounds like a coincidence based on what you've posted here. Quote Link to comment
forthferalz
oh - i thought the activation code was a one time only thing and throw them out. Do you mena the tracking number? Quote Link to comment
swizzle
No I mean the reference # that's given to you after the coin is activated. Swizzle Quote Link to comment
