+Hockeyhick
The next meeting of the Upstate South Carolina Geocachers Association will be a CITO event at the SCALE outdoor classroom in Duncan, SC. GCXJMJ Date: August 19, 2006 Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM The South Carolina Academic Learning Environment (SCALE) is a six-acre scale map of South Carolina, and is owned by District Five Schools of Spartanburg. Walking paths mark the interstate highways, gravel beds mark the major rivers, and there are seven classroom areas at major city sites. There is also a multi-stage virtual geocache at SCALE ( GCEE8), which takes cachers to various points around the site. The site does receive funding from the SC Tourism board, and is open for public use as long as classes aren't using the facility. During last December's ice storm, SCALE suffered major damage, and was closed for the remainder of the school year. Crews have removed the limbs and downed trees, but there's still lots to be done before the site can re-open. Our group will be doing general clean-up. This will involve picking up trash (there's lots) and clearing the pathways. We will need trash bags, gloves, leaf blowers, and rakes. We will NOT be doing any trimming or cutting because there are some native plants, and I'd hate to cut down something important. We would love to have as many volunteers as possible to help get SCALE back together and the SCALE virtual back online. Quote Link to comment

+Hockeyhick
Yeah...we know about the confusion! However, we aren't as strict with our members, and we tend to eat more! Ready to rake, de-litter, and sweat, I am! Quote Link to comment
