Username Change

Thank you. I will follow your advice.

Geocache.com software doesn't allow changing of user name, I tried it after contacting Groundspeak. I had to enter a new account and manually transfer and re-enter all caches I had found according to them. Fortunately for me I only started geocaching last month and had to re-enter only nine. I am a premium member and tech support did a transfer of my account to reflect such under my new username. My old user name was Jerryd which is still in the system. I deleted all logs under that user name. I entered another trip ticket today to try and keep my owner ID # the same because I was issued another owner ID# under my new user name. This shows me being a new registered customer since July 2006. I've been a registered user of this forum since December 2003 under Jerryd and want my new user name to reflect the same. I'm just waiting on another reply. So far, Groundspeak support has been pretty responsive getting back with me to solve any issue. Hope this helps!

How does one change their username? I have a friend that wants to change his username, but we can't figure out how to do it..

If you only have a few finds then simply make a new account and back log all of your finds to the new account. You can state in the log that you are doing so and that way the cache owners will know that you aren't simply making bogus logs.

There no easy automatic way to change your user name. Consider if you really want to change your name... if yes then:

You go the home page for gc.com and create another account, then you use your new account to relog all your old logs. Also use your new account to log any future caches you do. If you've placed any caches with the old account, use the adopt page (http://www.geocaching.com/adopt/) to move the cache's ownership from one account to the other. Finally, stop using your old account.
