+Jonovich
Hi folks, I know there are alot of Memory map users on here, so wonder if anyone knows of a basic UK outline map, prefereably with Counties shown that is compatible with Memory Map? I know there are route and planning maps included with Memory map, but I'm after something a bit more basic to plot my finds on. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Jon. Quote Link to comment
+Team Ballibeg
Have a look on my profile. I have done something similar to you using the facilities on http://www.geocacheuk.org/ . Dave Quote Link to comment
The Odd Socks
That's very cool, Team Ballibeg! I found the map with our cache finds on it, on the geocacheuk site, which was very pleasing.....but what's the secret to getting it to appear in your profile? I tried a couple of things, but it wouldn't play. Does it update itself on your profile automatically, or do you update it yourself? I've seen other profiles with a "counties I've cached in" map as well. Does anyone know how that can be done? Any help welcomed gladly. Quote Link to comment
+Jonovich
I have managed the basic map on my profile page with the standard GCUK HTML: - <a href= "http://stats.guk2.com/pics/make_cachermap.php?c=288124"><img'>http://stats.guk2.com/pics/make_cachermap.php?c=288124"><img src="http://stats.guk2.com/pics/make_cachermap.php?c=288124" width="400" height="400"></a> But wanted the counties divisions on there like what Team Ballibag has, plus I had some other items to add that required Memory Map... Cheers Jon. PS - change 288124 in the above HTML to 568712 for your caching stats odd socks. Quote Link to comment
+Team Ballibeg
I generate the map I use on the website then capture the image. I edit the image then upload to an online picture service I use. The HTML in my profile links to the image on my photo service so all I do is update the image in my photo service and there is no need to alter the HTML on my profile. For the counties map go here http://marnanel.org/counties Dave Edited July 28, 2006 by Team Ballibeg Quote Link to comment
The Odd Socks
Wow - how cool is that! (Ok, so I'm easily impressed but there are worse crimes ) Many thanks for your help, guys. Just need to find a few more caches now, to make the map look a bit more populated - what a hardship! Quote Link to comment
+Jonovich
Thanks to both Dave & Gary for emails! Information greatly appreciated. Going to have a go at creating the Rutland boundary and add that in. If I have any success I'll mail you back the results! Cheers Jon Quote Link to comment
+Jonovich
Look what I've found... http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/...un/outlinemaps/ Just need to import to Memory map! Jon Quote Link to comment
+Team Ballibeg
Email sent. Any chance of sharing? What's happened to the open 'sharing of knowledge' discussion we were having? Dave Quote Link to comment
barryhunter
For 'county' maps for your profile, see also this thread, where Teasel discloses a hidden feature. (as for memory map I would of pointed you at the OS outline site, but you already found it ) Quote Link to comment

I have a feeling things may have been veering into a grey area involving people who like parrots and wooden legs Quote Link to comment
+Nellies Knackers
You have email. No wooden legs or parrots involved, mail me by my profile and I will share happily, it's a folder of tracks following county boundries in gpx format, credit to Motley Crew who took the time to follow the boundries and originally passed them to me. I forget I have a web server, download from here Edited July 29, 2006 by Nellies Knackers Quote Link to comment

I'm glad you posted that link - I somehow managed to "lose" all those files and didn't relish the prospect of doing all that "tracing" again . Hi-Tek (Dad of Motley Crew) Quote Link to comment
+melmur
I use this one: http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/...nemaps/1995.gif imported and calibrated in Memory Map. It's also useful to see an overview of all your map boundaries as it has a plain background. Quote Link to comment
+Jonovich
Hi Melmur, How do you calibrate it in Memory Map? I have version 4.4.3 and can't find anything to calibrate the images I've downloaded from Ordnance survey. I've also now got a Rutland GPX file for Memory map, as well as a modified Leicestershire (without Rutland) GPS file (edited from original created by Motley crew). If anyone wants 'em, let me know and I'll host 'em someplace. Cheers Jon. Quote Link to comment
+Nellies Knackers
You can't calbrate with the os version of MM but you can download the europe version and calibrate with that then open in the os version. Quote Link to comment
+Jonovich
Don't suppose you have a link to the Euro one please Dave? Cheers Jon Quote Link to comment
+Nellies Knackers
Try here for the european version, it's a trial version but I believe you can use the calibration function. Quote Link to comment
