Gpsmap 60csx Newbie Question

Recommended Posts

......Only stupid people asking them.

I bought my GPSmap 60csx to geocache and use as an aid to navigation. I also have the City Navigator North America version 8. I am planning a trip from Atlanta to Richmond, and the unit has filled up quickly.

The question is: will a larger (1Gb) MicroSD card hold the entire US? Also, if I do upgrade, am I looking for a Sandisk transflash. I have found them on eBay, which looks like a better deal than the Garmin website.

Thanks,

Chuck

I think every one answered your Qs ...

Summary -

* Max MicroSD you can get is 1G

* A 1G holds just over half the USA

* Max number of Map Segements (the map blocks you select in MApsource) is 2025 which may limit a load if there are lots of small map segements

* The bit that was missing is DO NOT get a Sandisk MicroSD EXTREME .. these will be permently damaged by the GPS .. the standard Sandisk disks are fine ..

No, microSD/TransFlash cards are not the same as miniSD cards.

Is a 'micr-SD' the same as a 'mini-SD'

dealram.com says that 2G cards are available.

If I buy a 2G card, can I put my roads map in (say for half the US) and topo maps (for half the US) or is the map segment upload limit still a problem?
