+DanOCan Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Not sure why my ability to find caches along a route is broken...here is the rundown. I have generated a kml file in Google Earth. I go to the "Caches Along A Route" option. I browse to the kml file and upload it. I get taken to the webpage that shows the route info (37.5 miles, 18 points, etc, etc.) I click in the checkbox to select the route and say "Save" Error message pops up: "Please select a route to upload" It worked for me before, but now I can't make it work. I tried clearing my browser's cache but that didn't help.
+Raine Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Please provide some information to help in trouble shooting: Browser Used Route Information Shoe Size Thanks -Raine
+Markwell Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 (edited) Click the little checkbox to the side. Edited July 27, 2006 by Markwell
+alexrudd Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Why wouldn't that box be checked by default? Who would want to create and upload a route but not save it?
+Hynr Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Alexrudd, You have not seen all the possibilities. This week I discovered that Raine has provided more power than he has revealed to us. When you load a file that has multiple route segments within the data, each segment get its own line in this table (and you can preview each separately); and you can select several segments. When you click on Save, you get the option of merging all the selected segments into one route, or having each generate as a separate route in your route table. You can even use the back button in your browser to go back and do other combinations of segments out of the same upload. Stunningly powerfull. Raine, the work is a masterpiece, but the documentation is a bit lacking. Or maybe I just missed it...
+Raine Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Stunningly powerfull. Raine, the work is a masterpiece Hynr.. People will start to think I'm paying you to make these comments ... That "feature" just came out a few weeks back and we are still looking at how people use the system. -Raine
+DanOCan Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 OK, let's see: Browser is Firefox, but I seem to have the same problem with IE. Route size is 37.5 miles, containing 18 points. Yep, that is the checkbox I select before hitting save. As I said, I have done it before without a problem but something broke somewhere. Obviously it is just my system, I just don't know what would be causing it. I haven't seen any Java updates come through, Firefox was having the problem before the latest point release came out, no new Windows updates...I'm stumped.
+alexrudd Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Alexrudd, You have not seen all the possibilities. Those other options are pretty cool - thanks for telling me about them. But if there's only one route segment in the file you uploaded, why wouldn't the checkbox be checked automatically? DanOCan: Can you post the .kml route you created? Maybe it will help to see if the route is corrupted or something wierd. For the record, Java is a programming language. JavaScript is a scripting language often used in webpages. The two have absolutely nothing in common, but people mix them up all the time.

The java didn't like the apostrophe in the name, so once I removed it I was able to save my route. Does your route name have any special characters?
