Scotman
Is there any reason not to use a standard 12 volt usb converter to power a Legend cx in an automobile? Its a simple cigarette lighter plug on the front end with a usb port on the back. Here's the url http://www.styluscentral.com/12volusbcaba.html. It's a lot more reasonbly priced than Garmins cable and appears to do the same thing. Scott Quote Link to comment

I bought a belkin cigarette lighter to usb converter off ebay about 6months ago and it works great in my legendC and 60cx. Quote Link to comment

+EScout
The Belkin Cig lighter 12V to USB adapter is a good one. I use them to power/charge PDA, GPS, Cell phone, camera. Most things with a Li-ion rechargeable battery can use these, using the device's own USB cable. You will find these converters packaged with surplus cell-phone cables at places like the 99 Cents-Only Store, where I picked up a bunch of them..... for 99 cents each. Quote Link to comment

robertlipe
I have a 60C with a USB cigarette lighter connection. How do I know if it works It won't. 60C will not power from the USB jack. All the "X" models will. LegendC and VistaC will. 60C and 76C will not. Quote Link to comment
Scotman
I bought the converter from the link in my original post since I couldn't find one locally. It arrived in just a couple days (suprise!). I tested it last night and it worked perfectly! All set for my trip out west now. Scott Quote Link to comment

Soldered in a double wire and put red and black computer plugs on the ends that fit the 60cx jack pins. Works great. Takes 12V though. Anything under about 10V will not work. Not knowing what voltage was provided with the regular power adapter for the 60cx, I slowly increased the voltage with a variable DC power supply. Quote Link to comment
