Found this at our hotel in on Deep Creek Lake in MD. Is this a bench mark?

Near as I can tell, it is a benchmark set by the state of Maryland. I can not read anything else on the disk to do a search to see if it is logable on Geocaching.

 

Did you get the coordinates? That might help find something on GC.

The stamping at the bottom appears to be "LS 126." Most likely the LS stands for "Land Survey," or "Land Surveyor." It is most likely a land survey marker and not a benchmark.

No Cords, had problems with the GPS. In the middle was 486. So I guess I did not find anything special. Thanks for the info.

Went to Google Earth and pulled up the hotel.

39 3230.97N

79 2103.33W

Now what do I do?

Those coords from Google Earth are in deg, min, sec, decimal sec (DDMMSS.SS)

 

You need to convert them to "Geocache standard" (DDMM.MMM)

(divide the seconds by 60 and then round) Here they are for you:

N39°32.516

W79°21.060

 

No go here and search by coords. I'll leave actually doing it to you, so you can have the fun! Let us know how you do.
