Johnmelad Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Are there any caches specific to disabled people? Quote
adambro Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 (edited) This site might be of interest. Also, as you are a Premium Member you can create pocket queries that find caches with the Wheelchair accessible attribute. Suppose it depends what the disability is though. Edited July 5, 2006 by adambro Quote
Jango & Boba Fett Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Are there any caches specific to disabled people? If you look up your cache descriptions through www.geocacheuk.com you can find the handicache ratings. For example here is cache GCWWWY. Quote
PopUpPirate Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Not always applicable I know, but doing a Pocket Query search for caches with the disabled icon would be a good starting point for finding caches like GCWN8A Quote
Dorsetgal & GeoDog Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 HHHmmmm, "The Disabled" ??? Who are they then? I would prefer to see normal caches correctly graded by attribute, then people with differing needs can pick and choose which ones they care to attempt. I am not sure I would wish to attempt any cache specifically for "the disabled". Cache owners should always, IMHO, rate their caches at handicaching.com, whether they deem them to be wheelchair accessible or not, that then puts the information in the public domain and those who wish or need to know further details about terrain, distance etc can look if they wish to. Just saying a cache is wheelchair accessible for example, doesn't always yield the correct impression as not everyone has an idea of the abilities of modern wheelchairs and mobility scooters. My two penneth worth! Quote
FollowMeChaps Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 If it helps I've set a couple of wheelchair accessible caches with more in the pipeline http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...4c-43a48ae7f015 & http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...4c-43a48ae7f015 Quote
Jango & Boba Fett Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 If it helps I've set a couple of wheelchair accessible caches with more in the pipeline Lets see where have I been with differently mobile friends in their wheeled chariots, them grinning and me sweating: the top of Uffington Castle to view the Vale of the White Horse On a large concrete block (tank trap) on Brighton Beach with waves breaking around us Brontë Waterfall on Haworth Moor the plunge pool at the base of Malham Cove through the driffting snow to the top of Ilkley Moor So I shudder to think where your caches are FollowMeChaps. +The Flying Boots Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 The Merthyr Marathon Series (MM1 - GCGPKZ) by Write and Mane has a wheelchair friendly version available if you email the owners. There are 8 in the series altogether I think. Quote
