uperdooper
We will all get a letter saying " Since you were not at the Bash, NO JEEP FOR YOU" I hope they where not the only ones to get them. That is what I liked about mailing them this year. They have always given them to groups for events in the past and mailing them was a fair way of getting them out. At the event the "CLICK" horded them . I know one person who every so often releases WJTB'S with zero miles on them. what event are you referring to? if it's geobash this year, we had to practically sign our lives away to get one. at last year's bash we were allowed only one on saturday. there were so many left on sunday morning, they were begging people to take them. no one wanted them. if there is a "click"(sic), it must be a pretty big one. there were at least 500 people attending this year's bash. most of those people never even come to the main forums. uperdooper
I was talking about the local chapters that put on events to pass out the jeeps. thats who were begging us to take the white jeeps last year. it sure wasn't the folks at Groundspeak. they would only let us have one and we had to register the jeeps when we got them. there were over 400 people at last years bash, from all over the country, and we were so 'greedy' that they had to beg us to take the jeeps. +WascoZooKeeper
I was talking about the local chapters that put on events to pass out the jeeps. So did you go to the events? Like uper, I had about a half-dozen Jeeps from Geobash because there were so many still available on Sunday morning. I took them to some of our Chicago-area events and even there I still had trouble giving them away because our local group had received some and distributed ALL of them -- a large number by placing them in caches, and the others at events. If you have issues with how your own local group distributed them, you should take it up with your group. If the problem is that you didn't attend the events where they were available, that's not their fault. Quote Link to comment

If they are first come, first served than all that mail that is closer to Washington will get there before the mail from out this way. Quote Link to comment

+SeabeckTribe
The 2006 Jeep 4x4 Form asks for your "Physical Mailing Address". But what about those (like me) that don't have a mail box at their physical address and only a PO Box? Will they be shipped to the PO Box or by UPS to us? Or are we just out of luck! Having our mail stolen and replacing 3 mail boxes because they were either battered by 2X4 swinging yahoos, stolen and ran over. I went to the safety of a PO Box. Quote Link to comment
+arpegio
I'm at a loss as to why so many people would be so excited to go out of their way to promote some corporation for little or no remuneration. Then there's the whole notion of whether or not this sport/hobby is going to be turned into one big brothel for marketers. I've seen absolut geocoins and I imagine there are many other corporations that have identified this market as ripe for suckers who will forward their corporate brand all across the universe for free. Pardon me if I find this kind of depressing. You truck all across the country to find a cache, only to be bombarded with commercials. It seems to me, if I wanted corporate advertising, I'd be back at home sitting on my a** in the living room watching tv instead of exploring the world. But that's just my opinion. Of course I'll still sign up for one of those things, because I'm a total hypocrite. Edited July 19, 2006 by arpegio Quote Link to comment

I figured the $0.39 stamp to send in the request form was a low cost of entry for getting my hands on a brand new TB. Sure it's not mine, but I get the enjoyment of releasing a new TB into the wild. Plus there's no loss on my part if it goes missing later on. Of course, this is assuming I got my form in early enough to receive one of the TBs. Quote Link to comment
+Bear Paughs
Let's not forget that there is a contest. Most people probably don't participate, but it's a lot of fun for those of us who do. Quote Link to comment

+IGJoe
... promote some corporation for little or no remuneration. Then there's ... remuneration .... I love cool words If corporations want to support our hobby then I say all the better. If Jeep and Absolut are putting trackables out there that cost us nothing to pursue then great. I'm not bothered at all if the TB or Coin was purchased by a corporation or an individual. I does the same for me either way. Quote Link to comment
+rdavis1239
As for me I dont care if people use it to advertise, why not its cheep and they way Geocaching is catchng on, it just may be a cheep way to advertise. And since of course I dont care I did send a form in for a Jeep TB the day after they were avaliable so hopefully I get one! And ya its not mine, but I got to release it and ill watch it, and if it becomes MIA im out what........ one stamp and once envelope and my time.......its worth it. Quote Link to comment
