Searching For Tbs

Is there a way to search the geocaching website for caches that contain TBs? Or is this considered bad form?

How to find caches with travel bugs:

 

1. Manual searching: When you do a search for caches nearest your home coordinates, a zipcode, etc., look for the travel bug symbol in the search results (nearest cache page):

 

2. Latest bug drops (US only): Go to your state's homepage (accessed from the pulldown list at the top right corner of the main GC.com homepage) and look for the section that lists the latest ten trackables that have been dropped in a cache for your state. (Great tool if you live in Rhode Island; not so helpful if you live in Texas.)

 

3. Search for "travel bug hotel" caches in your area, and put them on your watchlist. When someone logs a visit and says they dropped off a TB, dash out and grab it if you can assist the bug with its mission.

 

4. Pocket Queries (premium members only): Order a pocket query for caches within 50 miles of your home coordinates (or zipcode, or whatever). Check the box in the pocket query setup page to only list caches that contain travel bugs. This is the most efficient way to focus in on travel bugs in your area. Running that query, I see that there are 46 caches within 10 miles of me that may contain travel bugs. Since there are 229 caches in the same radius, that sure helped to narrow down the search.

Or is this considered bad form?

 

It isn't considered bad form to search for caches with travel bugs and go find and retreive travel bugs in general.

 

It *is* considered bad form however to:

1. Pick up more travel bugs than you can possibly move within the guideline of 2 weeks as the maximum time to hold onto a travel bug before returning it to another cache
   
2. Pick up a travel bug with a goal that you cannot help it meet or to move it further from its goal
