Etrex Vista C And The Etrex Vista Cx, What's The Difference?

Recommended Posts

Can any one hear past the SHOUTING ?

Just going to Garmins Website and doing a product compare

Vista C

Memory 24 MB

Vista Cx

Removable microSD data card (64 MB included)

I was just told by a friend that using all capitals in the computer world is like "SHOUTING". Sorry, didn't know that. That's how I write, with all caps., so for some reason I do it when I type as well, again, sorry not a techno nerd.

Just because a wonder drug says that you will lose 50lbs. a week doesn't actually mean that you will. I was looking for actual results from Geocachers who have actually used these products, and felt one way or another about them. I don't trust what Garmin says and neither should you if you've done your share of reading in these forums. Hands on expierence is what I'm looking for, tracking me?

I have the Vista C. For the area I cache in, the 24 MB is all I need. I have both the City Select and Topo maps loaded. On a recent road trip, I took my laptop with me, and, since that unit has a USB connection, I could change out the mapset quickly. Likewise I could change the caches as I traveled. The 500-waypoint limit is probably the only thing I would change, if I could.

Since the 'x' units came out, you might get a good deal on a new Vista C on eBay, but I don't think any online merchants are still offering that model.

If you travel a lot, getting the 'x' model is what you should do. Or, if you want 1000 waypoints, you might look at the GPSMap60C(S)x which also has the new chip for superb reception.
