+Fuzzywhip
I am planning a series of Travel Bugs to be dropped into caches in Japan on my next trip. I would appreciate some translation help for the design of the travel bug's body. I need a brief line (in kana) each for : - Please keep this travel bug inside the country of Japan. - Submit photos of Japanese shinto shrines and buddhist temples. - Thank you. Anyone who could help would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Quote Link to comment

Anyone who could help would be very much appreciated. Thank you. This is how I would translate your request, although people who are living in Japan might say them differently (and better). You'll need Japanese fonts installed on your computer to read the following: - Travel Bug を日本国内から持ち出さないで下さい。 - 神社と寺院の写真をお願いします。 - Travel Bug "wo nihonkokunai kara mochidasanaidekudasai." (Please don't take the TB outside Japan) - "jinjya to ji-in no shashin wo onegaishimasu." (Photos of shrines and temples are appreciated) Instead of "ji-in", you can also say "otera" (お寺) which is more informal but kids will understand it. If you can write or print kanji, I highly recommend you do that! Quote Link to comment

+budd-rdc
You might find this site useful. Tried it, all translations sound weird or rude. I tried reverse translation from my Japanese text to English and they sound reasonable. Hopefully, other Japanese speaking cachers (matz, Bailey Nippon, etc.) can post here and contribute. +matz
I think budd-rdc-san's comment is perfect. The translation site's results are horrible. If you do not want to install Japanese fonts on your PC and eager to describe on Kanji character, I can send jpg image of these contents. matz Tokyo/Japan. Quote Link to comment
+miss_butterfly
Most translation sites do a very bad job!! How many TBs are you needing this for? when do you need it by? I can alaways make up the tags for you and send it to you by post. If I were you, i'd probably make the whole tag descriptions in English on one side and in Japanese on the other side? or maybe at least the goals..... as for the two phrases, i'd translate it as: このトラベルバグを日本国内から持ち出さないでください。 and the other phrase: 神社やお寺の写真を撮ってジオキャッシュのサイトに乗せて下さい。 and then i'd also add: ありがとうございます。 to say thank you please let me know if you'd like me to make the tags for you Quote Link to comment
