+boomer555 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 New unit. Too many bells and whistles. On my etrex the bearing pointer was always there. Cant get it to display on the new unit. Downloaded Geocache waypoints, hit go to for one of them, takes me to the compass page but only displays my speed. No other infor being displayed. I know it is something simple but I can't figure it out...."I'm stupid...." Thanks for the help in advance. Boomer 555 Quote
8mmag Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 One simple rule...when in doubt, hit the 'Menu' key and see what options are available to you. New unit. Too many bells and whistles. +2LabCrew Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) Page 54 & 55 in your manual talks about Data Fields. You can change the number of Data Fields diplayed on the compass page and what items display in each box. Edited June 23, 2006 by 2LabCrew Quote
+Miragee Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I also changed the data fields on my Map Page so it now shows the distance to the cache and the little arrow. I turn off the data field when I am driving, however. Make sure the unit is set to "Prompt" you for "On Road" or "Off Road" when you navigate to a cache. And, if you change it on a long hike to not Prompt you for the caches you are heading towards, remember to reset it to Prompt you for Road Navigation after you return to your car. Congratulations on a great acquisition. You will really like that unit. Quote
+boomer555 Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 I have tried many data fields in the compass page and still only get the speed to diplay. set the prompt in the menu field from on road, off road or prompt. Still nothing. See what I get from going from a pinto to a cadillac. Thanks for the tips so far. Boomer 555 Quote
+Miragee Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Check out this Very Helpful Site. Just take it one page at a time and check the Menu choices for each page. It is really easy to figure out . . . but don't try to learn all of it all at once. Quote
+DustyWalker Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Don't give up! As stated previously, you have a very nice unit and won't be disappointed once you catch on to it. You'll wonder why you didn't figure it out earlier. Quote
