+humanloofa
I have been spending some time off the off topic and on the on topic. I hate to say this but it seems like the on topic is alot of angst and bashing. I was just woundering if there was something we can all agree on. I want to start a list. Copy and past the list or what ever add what you think we can agree on to the agree list, if you don't agree move it to the disagree list, once it is on the disagree list do not move it back to the agree list. I am just curious to see if there is something we can agree on, that and to see if this can go on as a serious discusion without flaming and attacks. With that being said I will start the list. Things we agree on: Geocaching is a fun family activity, that can be fustrating at times. Nothing will remain on the agree list to long. Signal is a frog. water is wet. David Ulmer is credited with the hiding the first geocache and posting it on the web. Sign the log book=collect smillie. No log book put in a peice of paper, notify cache owner on log. Trade even or up. TB's are not trade items. Hide it as good as or better than you found it. Take the clue with you. Always have spare batteries. Things we will never agree on: Micros. Numbers of any kind. Garmin vs Magellan. DRR As it starts one list is longer than the other, but for how long? Quote Link to comment
+Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
Things we agree on: 1)Geocaching is a fun family activity, that can be fustrating at times. 2)Nothing will remain on the agree list to long. 3)Signal is a frog. 4)water is wet. Yep, agreed. 5)David Ulmer is credited with the hiding the first geocache and posting it on the web.6)Sign the log book=collect smillie. 7)No log book put in a peice of paper, notify cache owner on log. One person is claiming 5 isnt so. Not all agree 6 or 7 is true. I do agree with them however. Add virtuals to the list of things people will never agree on. +Snoogans
I agree that these forums are like watching an unrestricted NASCAR race on the widest most safety conscious high banked oval one could ever imagine. By that I mean, things tend to go-round in circles ad nauseam until a headline or a by line hints a crash. THEN the lookyloos gather and the vultures circle. That's pretty much business as usual. +cache_test_dummies
Caches should be rated properly. Good coordinates are a must. Travel Bug prisons are bad. Geocaching needs more rules. Geocaching needs less rules. Accepting food from the pig is a bad idea. Quote Link to comment

+humanloofa
Do we need to agree on anything? If not we are in big trouble. I see the forums of a sampling of cachers from all over the world. Everyone has there own view on caching. If we can not agree on a few basics of the game how long will it be around? Quote Link to comment

Aw, we're all a big happy family here! At the last event that I went to in Seattle, I got hugged to death! And some of them were total strangers. I still don't know who one of them was. It was fun. +budd-rdc
Hide it as good as or better than you found it. Sorry to go off track from the feel good hugging going on... I'm surprised this one isn't discussed more often. "Better" is often the cause for cache migration, or "dislocation" as we call it here. Hide as good as you found it should be the rule, and "better" should be the exception. Quote Link to comment
+TheAlabamaRambler
Dangit, already I gotta disagree! I don't know anyone that thinks DRR was a good thing, so we in fact all agree on that. I have never defended it, in fact I apologized and offered restitution, so if it has to be carried on about at least move it to the Things We All Agree On list! Quote Link to comment

At the risk of starting a firestorm in here, It was a good idea. Group of cachers getting together from across the world for a day finding some caches. OK maybee not the world but different continents. The actual hunt, as I understand it, that was discussed to death on other threads and does not need to be repeated here, was the problem. As I said the idea was good the execution of the idea had less than desired results. I hope we can leave it at that, as we are getting along here. I would like to know if they had fun doing it, I know I would love being part of a hunt like that. Yet again there has been plenty of negative about it so please, please refrain from the they enjoyed defacing caches thing. Finger pointing, blame and angst has been done to death. +briansnat
Geocaching is a fun family activity, that can be fustrating at times. What about those without families? Can't we participate? Signal is a frog. Signal is a cartoon image. Sign the log book=collect smillie. or not sign it and collect one...or sign it and not collect one...or sign it and have your find deleted by the owner. Hide it as good as or better than you found it. If everyone hides it better than they found it, eventually it will be unfindable Trade even or up. I donno about that. SOMEBODY is out there leaving broken McToys in exchange for Mini Mag Lites TB's are not trade items. Oh, I've seen debate here over that. No log book put in a peice of paper, notify cache owner on log. Not my job to maintain other's caches Take the clue with you. What and spoil the hunt? Always have spare batteries. What if you just put in fresh ones and are only going out for an hour or two? Edited June 16, 2006 by briansnat Quote Link to comment
