Creating A Route Using A Track

What is the fastest way of creating a route out of a track so I can use to auto route me the same way.

What is the fastest way of creating a route out of a track so I can use to auto route me the same way.

I can only speak for Mapsource. I cannot find an easy, one step way to do this in MapSource.

I normally have done it using National Geographic TOPO! State Series. It allows you to do just what you want with one command.

One obvious way would be to place waypoints along the route and use the New Route command and enter these created waypoints. If there is a way to do it easily I am sure someone will be along shortly to fill you in. If you don't use MapSource, you might want to post a message to inform us what software you use.

Expert GPS will do it easily.

Select the track.

 

"Simplify" (remove some of the trackpoints) the track. (perform this operation maybe more than once)

 

"Convert to Route"

 

You are through!
