A new category, "Free Food & Drink" has been sent to peer review, and is awaiting your vote.

 

This waymark category will serve to mark locations around the world where people can find free food and/or drink.

This kind of reminds me of the ways hobos used to signal each other about locations that were favorable for receiving a handout. Boxcar Willy goes high-tech. :)

The idea was for it to lead people to free roadside coffee (like at some highways I've visited in Vt), free samples at factory tours (like I've gotten with class trips), and free samples at breweries...

 

unfortunately, people were not interested in this category, making it the first one I've ever heard of that failed to pass peer review...admittedly, it's no McDonalds or fiberglass horse category, but I thought it would be cool to share.

Actually I know of two other categories that failed, Fairy Hills, and another Historical Marker Category.

As I recall, the reason the category failed Peer Review was because it was too broadly defined, and lacked good variables. For one, there was no distinction made between free sample tables and soup kitchens. I'm sure if it was retooled it could be made to pass PR. If at first you don't succeed...!
