+Black Pig & the Piglets
The Yorkshire Geocoin that was launched last week at the Yorkshire Geocoin Jamboree event, is now available for sale via the web. Please see here for pictures , prices & ordering details. The coin is Trackable at GC.com & has its own Yorkshire Rose icon. I'm advertising it here first before notifying the rest of the world, I thought I'd give the "Regulars" first bite. +Chaotica_UK
Only available at Morrisons! Eh? Should explain, I have a muggle mate, Northern Mike, swears blind you can get anything at Morrisons and nobody should go anywhere else for their shopping. He will be mightily impressed that there is a Yorkshire geocoin and I think I need to get one. Quote Link to comment
+Stuey
I'll watch with interest to see how well these sell. A Devon coin event is on hold at the moment as I'm not sure whether the coin bubble has burst yet or not. Quote Link to comment

+Black Pig & the Piglets
We queried the lack of icon with Coins & Pins the minters. Apparently it can take 15days to get the icon into the system. Trust me there is one, & it will eventually appear. It is already on the coincodes wbsite if anyone needs a peek. Yorkshire icon DaveH Quote Link to comment
+Andy&BeckyRiley
Just pitching my 2p worth in but these are really lovely Geocoins. I think it's one of those rare instances where the silver is nicer than the gold. They are almost too nice to let loose, but we will soon, in a cache in Lancashire ;-) Quote Link to comment

+Wadders
I'll watch with interest to see how well these sell. A Devon coin event is on hold at the moment as I'm not sure whether the coin bubble has burst yet or not. Mmm, I think it is about to burst. Being an avid Leeds fan from the south west of England i am going to order one of these (if there is any left). However, i wonder if there may be a feeling that this is getting very comercialised Where do you stop? I bought the home nations coins and the whole thing has just exploded since, there seems to be so many of them now, What are your thoughts? stand well back Quote Link to comment
+Alibags
Nice looking coin... er, what's your mint got against Teeside? It looks like a big bit has been taken out of the coast (probably indigestable too!). One of my favourite caches (South Gare) will have gone, sniff! perhaps it's just the angle of the coin in the photo? Quote Link to comment
+Black Pig & the Piglets
Ah! It was difficult enough trying to get the Yan.., sorry Americans to faithfully reproduce a UK map as it was. They missed Flamborough head off at one point, so a bit of artistic licence had to be used. We originally were just going to have the map of Yorks on there, but then realised that it would be meaningless to the rest of the world, so we had an "artists impression" of the UK just to give some scale & orientation. Sorry about Teeside! Quote Link to comment
+Chaotica_UK
Thanks for the coin, had to fight the postman to get it delivered but they managed it in the end - bless. Lovely coin, will release it soon. Thanks Quote Link to comment

If you are having a big event and want to have a coin made to commemorate it AND the coin is good AND you don't mint too many, you won't have a problem. Oh yeah, and don't over price it because people in the US dislike paying too much to the UK (don't seem to mind so much if it's a limited edition US coin though ). Just my 2p... Bambi. +Black Pig & the Piglets
The Icon has been submitted to Coins & Pins, they have then to submit it for approval to GC.com when everybody's happy, up it goes. We have submitted it, honest, & we are as eager as everyone else to see it published, but it is out of our hands. We chased it up last Thursday & we were assured that it was all in hand. I can only apologise & ask for everyone to just hang on, it will happen. Dave Edited May 31, 2006 by Black Pig & the Piglets Quote Link to comment

+Black Pig & the Piglets
Yup! I saw that. I couldn't decide whether I should be pleased or p*****d off, I suppose that once the coins are purchased they belong to the purchaser to with as they please. It just felt odd to see it there. Especially when we still have a few left at the original price. They are going well though, I reckon that by the end of June they will have all gone. Quote Link to comment
+thunderbird30
I've received my coins and placed one in a cache. However the person that found it couldn't log it using the number on the coin! There was only success when the coin number was submitted as PCQ*** instead of PCQ***-*** (which is stamped on the coin) Any ideas why this would be? Great coins though. Quote Link to comment

The actual tracking code is PCQ*** which is the code you should use to log the coins. The last 3 digits are the serial number of the coin in relation to the series. I.e we had 250 gold & 250 nickel coins made & they have individual serial numbers from 001 to 250 respectivley, these are numbers for your personal use & do not form part of the tracking number. I think I've explained that ok.. but then again DaveH Quote Link to comment
+thunderbird30
Thanks for that. It's just a bit confusing for folk to see the number next to "Trackable at Geocaching.com" on the coin and they automatically think the whole number needs to be typed in! Quote Link to comment
+Black Pig & the Piglets
We have just had word from coins & pins that the icon SHOULD be uploaded to GC today. Sorry for the delay folks & thanks for your patience, it's been frustrating for us as well DaveH Quote Link to comment

+Black Pig & the Piglets
You're welcome. As some may know the project is a joint effort between me & MikeG. I dealt with the orders admin, whilst Mike did the logistics legwork ( he thinks I got the easy bit ) So any credit is equally due to Mike. The sale has gone well & we have sold the bulk of the 500 coins, we are down to the last 50 or so of each now. If anybody wants any hints or tips on producing their own geocoin please feel free to ask. We have learned a few lessons on the way & would be happy to share. Thanks to everyone who has bought the coins, they seem to have gone down well & the feedback has been positive. Anyone who still wants one & has not placed an order should get a move on. Regards DaveH Quote Link to comment

We have about 50 left & when these have sold we will put the project to bed, forever. Anyone still wanting one of these handsome coins had better get their skates on. I am about to go on holiday, so MikeG will be dealing with the sales whilst I'm away. Thanks to everybody who has purchased the coins in the past.
