Another Year ... Another Round Up!

It's that time of year again folks, time to show where the densest areas for caching are in the UK!

 

For the last couple of years we've asked how many caches there are within a 25 mile radius of your home co-ords/postcode. Just enter your co-ords/postcode, set it to 25 miles and tell us the number you get back and, if you want, where you are in the country (don't worry if it includes temporarily disabled caches - on the basis that they will return soon! or if it includes caches you've set)

 

2003 - 130 approx (... we had a chat and think this is about right )

2004 - 270

2005 - 518

2006 - 865

 

all from our South Bedfordshire location ... seems caching has taken off in a big way judging by the rate of expansion. For what it's worth, our local not-found PQ has had to be reduced to 20 miles because 25 miles now shows more than the allowed 500 caches!!

 

So what about the rest of you? Is there anyone with more than 1000 within 25 miles yet.

25 mile radius of W12 7EL = 927 caches

25 miles of RG41 3UW - has had 1017 in total. Removing those no longer available reduces this to 879, then removing our founds takes this down to 664. So why when we are looking of where to go do we think there's nothing in the area.....

25 miles of Bolas Heath, North Shropshire gives 263 active caches.

 

We'd dearly love to see a LOT more caches round here and are doing our part but there do not seem to be many other cache setters, despite tons of very interesting places and great views. We live in hope.

Well there are only 80 within 25 miles, but then again Norfolk is a huge County. I would think that if you were to calculate caches in terms of population density then Norfolk would not be too bad percentagewise.

Just 205 from Cardiff CF5-2JN. We have the Bristol Channel to the south which restricts placing caches a little.

 

Just 81 left not found within 25 miles of which only 28 are in Wales.

 

When I first started I had to travel 12 miles to my nearest cache. Now there are 56 available within 12 miles.

Some prolific setters in this area. Within 25 miles of Hemel Hempstead there are 1133 caches.

That doesn't sound a lot, but even a determined team couldn't log them all in a week!

My stats seem to tally up with Deego's and show that the rate of cache placements is dropping

Just 292 - and a lot of those will be over the estuary in Essex and will be further than 25 miles by road.

From Wooburn Green, HP10 it’s 1074 within 25 miles!

 

Probably because from here 25 miles radius takes in half of London, most of Bucks then out past Reading to the West. Loads of cache rich areas.

From BS24 7RQ there are a grand total of 296 of which we have found 31 of them - so plenty still left to do .

Wirral has the added dimention that it's surrounded on three sides by rivers...

 

So - I've now virtually cleared Wirral, my nearest cache (3 miles away) is over the water in Liverpool, and would probably take about 40 mins to get there!!

 

Additionally - going in the other direction, my nearest is in Wales, some 9 miles away, but would take about 40 mins to get to!
