+JollyJax Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 An incredible CITO event with loads of cachers enjoying themselves at the same time as giving back to a community woodland. Thanks Cryptik Souls for showing us all the way forward. I really hope I can find other ways like this one to improve the environment and enjoy the countryside even more Quote
+Team Maddie UK Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Looks like we posted in the wrong thread so here's our post from the other one... Well I have to admit that it was my first CITO event (Lynn has been to several) and what a satisfying experience it was! To see so many people bustling around with armfuls of bicycle parts (and bicycles), typewriters, festering carpets and furniture, pushing wheelbarrows furiously back and forth was a real joy to behold. The result, two skips which are probably piled too high too actually ship as they are and a lovely little stream now running clear, was equally fantastic. The turn out was phenomenal and quite possibly will transpire to be a record in the UK for any event let alone purely a CITO. Well done to the Cryptic Souls Crew and Liane for all of the organisation that went into it all. It may have been my first CITO but it most certainly won't be the last. Martin & Lynn Edited to add punctuation. Seeing furniture pushing wheel barows would indeed have been something to behold Quote
+Mad H@ter Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Yeah, what they said . Thanks for organising this one Cryptik Souls, its absolutely amazing what can be achieved in such a short amount of time. We now feel inspired to try something similar. Quote
+lordelph Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 My first CITO too but what a corker of day! Well done to the Cryptiks for a superbly run event, and to the Cachehoppers for the great "unwinding" event afterwards. Such great weather too! Quote
+ANDYBUG&LADYBIRD Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 This was our first CITO too but if they are all as well organised and as much fun as this one was, then we hope to attend as many as possible in the future Many thanks again for what was a truly worthwhile couple of hours[]!!!!! Quote
+third-degree-witch Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Great day ! ASTOUNDING amount of junk shifted...lets hope that the locals now appreciate what a beautiful place they have.... thanks cryptic souls crew... Quote

Quote
+Learned Gerbil Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Well done for organising this. Jackie and I had a lot of fun - we didn't get as much of a car as some, but we did fish four wheels out of the stream! Quote
+walkergeoff and wife Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 A thoroughly worthwhile and enjoyable event, well organised by the Cryptik Souls Crew. It was great to see so many cachers all working together, and the fact that we filled two skips to overflowing just added to the sense of satisfaction. Quote
+wizard1974uk Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 It was a great event, will definetly come to more CITO events Quote
+Cave Troll and Eeyore Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Well done to all who took part Bet you had a rosy feeling inside after seeing what you all had achieved Quote
+Bekandian Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Big thanks to CSC for the truly amazing organisation on this CITO event. A real impact was made and the amount that came out of the wood was both stunning and shocking in equal measure. Best finds of the day: A step ladder, an air filter housing, and a almost new wellington boot. Worst find of the day: 2 Nappies... used!! Count us in for the next one Quote
+slimey Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) I wasn't there. So who was this? S Edited April 23, 2006 by slimey Quote
+The Cache Hoppers Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) Blimey Slimey! That looks amazingly like Hokes!!! Was he there?? He wasn't on the list ... but there was a couple by the name of Mr and Mrs H ... the plot thickens Edited to add: What a brilliant turnout, and what a difference we made to the woodland. Well done to everybody and well done Cryptiks on getting it organised. We need to do this again next year! Strangest things I found were: a mop, a fork, a fishing net almost completely buried in a pathway which took ages to dig out, and the other welly boot! +The Hokesters Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I wasn't there. So who was this? That's not me - that bloke in the piccy is far too chubby! Quote
+Alibags Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Aw! you mean 'cuddly' don't you Hokes? I had a fab time. Who would imagine that a cynical icon grabbing attempt could end up being so much fun and so satisfying. Excellent... MORE!!! Quote
+UKGeoCyclist Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 My first CITO event, and what a great event it was. Thanks for organising it CSC, will definitely be back to the wood for the commemorative cache. I couldn't believe that we shifted 2 whole skip loads of rubbish, it definitely looked much better after our efforts. Adrian Quote
team tisri Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 It certainly was a great event, and amazing to see so many people coming so far to pick up other peoples' litter. Attempts to find an entire car were partially successful, having found four wheels, air filters, oil filters, what looked like a windscreen wiper motor, a wing mirror and a rear view mirror, not to mention enough carpet to cover all the seats. Other curious finds included what appeared to be some kind of boiler flue and one-and-a-half shoes. Jake the Peg has nothing on this! Also incredible was the sheer amount of junk we collectively hauled out of the woods, watching it pile up was a sight to behold! It's still amazing that people apparently walk past their own rubbish bins to take small pieces of litter into the woods to dump, but there you go. Here's to the next one! Quote
+Mr'D Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Thanks to the organisers for these events. A pleasant by-product of the weekend is some new local caches that were placed for the event. Great! Jon Quote
