8mmag
Does anyone have any insight when Garmin might release the next firmware update for the 60CSx? If not, lets have a little fun...closest to the right date & what fixes will be included wins a free firmware update! Quote Link to comment
NewZealand
what fixes will be included ... What I know for sure is that instead of the boring power on screen they will show some dancing gogo girls on the display. But only if you have WAAS reception. If you get no WAAS signal, there will be some dancing gogo boys on the display, so that you know immediately if you have WAAS or not. Quote Link to comment
+team fuzzybunny
Instead of when it will come out, lets all take a guess on if they will actually fix the things that need fixing! Quote Link to comment
+YuccaPatrol
Because Garmin puts a very high value on geocaching features, they are going to be increasing the length of the waypoint notes field from 30 characters to 500 characters that we can have full hints or other notes easily accessible. Yeah, right. . . I've been asking for this for 2 years. . . sigh. . . Quote Link to comment

8mmag
Well, I for one am getting pretty antsy for an update. I've emailed them twice asking about these without a response yet. I want: 1. Elevation issue fixed. This irritates me to no end. 2. Failure to reaquire lock after losing signal fixed. Inexcusable if you ask me. 3. WAAS functionality fixed. How could Garmin miss this? The other stuff would all be gravy to me. I do love the sensitivity of these things though. Quote Link to comment
+YuccaPatrol
I did end up emailing Garmin about adding more characters to the notes field so that geocaching hints could be more effectively loaded into the unit. I received a very kind response back. I don't have it here but it said that the highest compliment they can receive is for a customer to make suggestions for the improvement of a product. Also said that he would forward my suggestion to the engineers who do these upgrades and that it will be considered for a future upgrade. Quote Link to comment
RealDeal55
I wish they would add a % grade feature. This would be very handy when biking up and down hills. Quote Link to comment
da_guy2
Fix the custom POI's??? maybe??? Quote Link to comment
+drbugs
I emailed them today with a bug report (map screen freezes), and I added the following enhancement requests: Some suggested enhanchements. 1. Geocaching information. It would be AWESOME if the units with expandable memory had enhancements to allow much more information to be uploaded to the device via gpx files. The premium membership at geocaching.com allows the entire cache page to be downloaded (including cache info, hints difficulty, and the last 5 comments from cachers). it would be very cool if I didn't have to use my ipaq to show this information, so I could just use my gpsr. 2. A system similer to the magellans for waypoint management (similer to the POIloader in some ways, but more flexible). On the magellans, you can have multiple files, and use directories to organize waypoints (again, sorta like the POIloader). It would be nice for these to be read/write on the gpsr (mark cache as found, delete/add on the gpsr). 3. I liked the tracklog improvements on 2.62 beta (using the external card to store it). I couldn't get at it from mapsource (or at least couldn't figure out how). It would be nice to be able to load it in mapsource without having to use an external card reader EDIT. forgot about a previous request from garmin that I just heard back on: I have a 60cx, with cityselect v7. When I select Find->Fuel Service (and I expect other finds are similer) it does show gas sites that are in order of closest to furthest. Problem I noticed is that the closest may be a gas station I just passed, and doing a U turn is disbled in my routing. Is it possible to have it show me the closest POI that is based off of my travel direction? No, the unit searches in a radius of your current position only. Also of interest (WAAS and future fix): Any word on the WAAS updates/problem definition for the 60cx? This is an ongoing thing as we work with SiRF to try to get these kinds of issues hammered out. I have heard reports of more success with the newest firmware, I'm pretty confident that this will be corrected. Edited May 3, 2006 by drbugs Quote Link to comment
+geobc
EDIT. forgot about a previous request from garmin that I just heard back on: I have a 60cx, with cityselect v7. Problem I noticed is that the closest may be a gas station I just passed, and doing a U turn is disbled in my routing. Is it possible to have it show me the closest POI that is based off of my travel direction? No, the unit searches in a radius of your current position only. On the Streetpilot, when it lists the nearest POIs, it also shows you the distance AND direction of them. With the 60/76, you have to highlight the individual POI in order to get this information. I would guess that they don't include that info in the list because the 60/76 have a portrait screen orientation with very limited text width. Too bad, because it was very useful to have that information provided in the list. GeoBC Quote Link to comment
+Train_Man
Sorry to say this, but Garmin doesn't have much of a history for adding major features (such as Geocache info page) to their GPS's. They only add small things and make fixes I believe. I could be wrong! Hope so! Quote Link to comment
+Grenadyr
1. Fix POI custom image issue 2. Increased POI description capacity 3. Ability to add line-breaks in POI description 4. Ability to transfer selected POI's to waypoints on the fly 5. Fix the search function of custom POI's (The POI function and memory card is why I finally bought a 60CSx) 6. Fix the WAAS issue 7. Third option for Geocaches; DNF Love my GPSr but the POI's need work. I currently use mine to track my customers and geocaches in New England. Quote Link to comment
