Adhesive: Metal To Wood

I need to attach a 2" x 4" thin metal plate to a block of wood in order to create a magnetic surface for a small cache container. Would Gorilla glue (or another type of glue) be best or would duct tape work just as well?

I'd suggest 2-part epoxy. Lightly sand both surfaces and make sure they are dry and clean before applying.

 

You could also use small brad nails in the corners and along the edges also.

Magnetic wood? Perfect!

I agree with the epoxy suggestion.

You might try E6000 glue also. I use it for almost everything.

Epoxy's a good recommendation. These days, though, whenever anything metal is involved, I pretty much always break out the JBWeld...

In my woodworking, I have used Gorilla Glue, epoxy and CA (crazy glue) to attach wood to metal all with good results.

A good marine epoxy will also work.

 

Is it possible to use small stainless screws or nails? Galvenized staples? Could you hammer in a bunch of galvanized roofing nails (the ones with the large flat heads) and just use them as teh attachment point for the magnet?

Or you could drill a hole in the plate and use a wood screw....
