Upgraded Image Server

Late last night we moved our image server to a new machine. Our current image storage is around 400 gigs and the new machine currently supports 1 terabyte but can be upgraded to support over 2 terabytes. Since we at about 1gb/day for new images this should hold us over for at least the next 6 months

 

So keep those images coming! And remember you can add coordinates to any image you upload to the site.

 

Also, for those who were experiencing issues with ad blocking software hiding images since they originated from the Groundspeak.com domain, we updated our DNS entries to use img.geocaching.com. If you wish to link to the images in the future you can use the new DNS entry for the permanent location of your images.

 

The image stat banner has also been moved to img.geocaching.com but still works at the new address.

Also a bonus for those reading the thread. Now when you click on the front page banner images you are taken to the image and two additional images that take you to the gallery of all the previously selected images. It's a neat way to see a hand picked collection of images taken by geocachers around the world.
