Papa-Bear-NYC Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Today I worked my way on foot across the south Bronx along Bruckner Boulevard from Castle Hill Avenue to Willis Avenue, about 5 miles. It was at times pleasantly residential and at times rather gritty industrial. I found about half my targets, including 3 FTFs (plus another FTF for this contest) and one of the original NY City bench Marks from 1909 (KU1002), so it was not a bad day. Hopefully, the judges will agree.

Papa-Bear-NYC Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Yesterday I spent a long day in Queens, NY. I walked the "341" level line, surveyed in 1952 from "A 341" in Bayside to "K 341" at the Whitestone Expressway, with a side trip around Fort Totten and a little extra jaunt in Flushing. It was about 12 miles on foot and I was exhausted by the end. But I found 8 marks out of 14 plus 2 not on GC, which is pretty good. I have provided closeups with outlines added to show where and what the stamping was and hopefully the judges will be happy with that. But KU1121 may be pushing the envelope, but hey, there's no harm in trying.

+Intermountain Angler Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Where do I start? Yesterday day turned interesting and QUITE aggravating at the same time. I went off to find RZ1881 it is oldest in county marked with an X in a rock and a FTF what I found after driving 30 miles is a a bronze disk stamped WHITE 1945 after getting home and some research later i found another entry for white RZ1659. In the description it said they put the disk in the EXACT spot of the X as listed in RZ1881 I logged both with a reference on RZ1881 to RZ1659. my question to the judges is what will happen with this? Do I get a FTF and oldest in county for RZ1881 considering the PID# etc. is still listed, then what about RZ1659. One location TWO entries for a benchmark what to do RZ1881/1902/Y/Y RZ1659/1945/N/N
