I spent a good part of the day walking along the sometimes lovely, oftentimes seedy Brooklyn waterfront from Bay Ridge to Redhook. I found 11 out of 22 total, and 8 out of 18 for eligible marks. Not bad.

* - I have marked these as FTFs. They have what looks like redundant entries for the monumentation. See what you think. I'll go by whatever the judges decide.

** - The monumentation date on the NGS datasheets for these marks (1934) is wrong. It should be 1909, but as per the rules I put down what was there.

I was in northwest Maine last week hiking and peak bagging along the Canadian border. I found a number of the old boundary monuments (1845) and International Boundary Commision (IBC) triangulation stations (1915-1916) on or near the border. They illustrate two important parts of the process. 1) In 1842 a treaty was signed between the US and Canada for this part of the boundary, and in 1845 a joint group from both countries monumented the border. 2) In 1915-16 a full triangulation was done of the complete line and the coordinates of every monument was established.
