+Eye Cacher
Has anyone posted or seen a thread on how to make yoour own wooden nickels? I'm interested in color printing or silk screening, not just rubber stamping. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+reveritt
I can't help you with the printing, but this company, which prints custom wooden nickels, also sells blanks. It might be worth ordering some and experimenting with different printing methods. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Not wooden, but Mountain Mudbug links to a tutorial on her page detailing how to make clay coins. Quote Link to comment
+4BOWS
Contact BadAndy. He set up an event where we all silkscreened our own wooden nickels. He's got answers for you. Quote Link to comment

+BadAndy
I've received many requests for info on our nickel/pokerchip project and instead of repeating it over and over, I'll put together an instruction sheet to email to folks....and post it here. Watch this space.... Quote Link to comment
+RockyRaab
Here's an idea... I think a great alternative to wooden nickels would be those wooden "biscuits" they sell for joining planks. Buy 'em by the bag full at any home improvement place, then just rubber stamp them, paint them with acrylics or whatever. Quote Link to comment
+darus67
this company... also sells blanks. It might be worth ordering some and experimenting with different printing methods. You can also buy small bags of blank wooden nickels at craft stores, if you're impatient, or don't want to by hundreds of them. Quote Link to comment

Buy 'em by the bag full at any home improvement place, then just rubber stamp them, paint them with acrylics or whatever. The problem with those is they typically have some sort of design imprinted on them to allow them to glue up better. For another alternative for music lovers, there are companies who sell custom guitar picks, also. I can't wait to see BadAndy's silkscreen info. Quote Link to comment
+fox-and-the-hound
For inspiration you might check out the Tokens are Cool thread at http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...pic=117848&st=0 for a variety of different ideas. There are a quite a few wooden nickels as well as clay, pewter, plastic, acrylic and more. Michael's craft store sells wooden blanks and I think they're online now. There's also a wooden nickel trading thread where you can see more examples at http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=104724 Can't wait to see what you come up with! castlemoat
Are the wooden nickels used as a trade item or are they a gift to the owner of the cache so they know who visited their cache. I ask that because a lot of them say "so and so was here". Just wondering thanks Quote Link to comment
