Omg! - This Will Surely Be Mis-used!

Recommended Posts

I just had a look at this, and was surprised to find the tracking codes for coins that I'd bought but hadn't logged yet. It must have some sort of connection into the geocaching.com systems that track who owns what TBs (presumably the one they use to know if it's ok to reissue the activation codes to people).

Very impressive, but I'm sure TPTB will shut it down as soon as they realise it's publicly known about.

I've sent GC.com an e-mail of complaint, I thought the tracking numbers and activation codes were secure, this could lead to trouble.

i have also sent a letter to GC.com and i guess the more that send a complaint in TPTB might just listen..

Well I think this is an admirable enterprise and can only serve to enhance our Geocaching experience today.

I (for the 1st time) totally disagree with you there Mr Lactodorum I can't believe you would back up this idea, it's disgusting how people can get my t.b/coin info even the ones I have not registered yet so easily!

Without hesitation I support the vewpoint of my colleague.

 IF THIS INFORMATION CAN BE OBTAINED WHAT OTHER PERSONAL INFORMATION CAN OBTAINED FROM MY DETAILS I GAVE TO GC.COM ;)

If both our local moderators are willing to accept this I have no alternative but to with draw my account from g c.com, could someone let me know how to close my account :D:D

I think the site is great, no more running out in the early morning to pick up Geocoins and jeeps.

Just search and then log the item, what a great idea.

Now if only we had a database of all the puzzle caches in the world with final co-ordiantes

See ya...Gary

Funny you should say that...there was a post in these forums yesterday in which somebody said that they received a PQ from gc.com that contained a whole bunch of coordinates for final stages of multi and puzzle caches...that in combination with the site referenced in this thread make me wonder about the security of the gc.com servers, and our information being kept watch over by gc.com (given the frequent state of disorder in the service recently).

This site is just what I needed. Having dropped off boardsliders mini TB without noting the TB number, it was the work of a moment to look it up and correct the log entries. And considering all the White Jeeps in this country spend all their time in Stuey's hands  I may have to log a few of them.

As ever, our mods have my support.

I have come to the conclusion there are a few disillusioned people here, trust me this data base should not be allowed, it IS a recipe for disaster, this data base needs closing down before someone starts moving trackables around willy nilly! please reconsider your views on this matter Eckington/Lactodorum I'm waiting for a reply from Jeremy Irish for his views on this urgent matter IMO

I truly believe that you and your honoured colleague should stamp this kind of activity out, your insistence that it is good shocks me, I hope that you take a turn in faith here

The question now is how many people filled it in before posting on here? I would like to think that some people really fell for it and never logged on before posting here annoyed.

I would have thought that most people would have filled it in before posting here. I did, out of curiosity. It fooled me. Nice one.
