LOL - it would not be the first time. I know for a fact it's happened a few times in the USA and Canada.

 

Also, I know of a USAF fighter that did a full display over Manchester International rather than the nearby Woodford Airshow (I was there and could see him in the distance doing it - was over 25 years ago). Also, the display pilot who did a display at Cambridge Airport rather than Duxford - duh!

I hope the pilot had a breath test.

 

As for the "not sure how the plane is going to be removed from the site" - wouldn't it be a good idea to switch the engines on and point the nose at the other end of the runway?

He did have a GPS, but he knew of a nearby cache and as he was on his way homeand he had 5 minutes to spare..... Come on, we've all done it.

Was it an urban myth or a true story about a driver in Germany using his GPS in fog. Apparently he drove straight off a ferry ramp into the Rhine.
