IronMaiden Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 I would of loved to come along but "stuff happens" . Maybe the next hike Ironman114 and I will be able to go. Quote
+TotemLake Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 We would enjoyed having you and the MR along. That being said, this has been a moderately successful series of hikes for 2006 when you consider it started late and I had to call off my being there at least 3 times. I want to thank everybody for joining me on these hikes! It was a lot of fun for me as it appears it was for you. I will go through the HOTM caches and post the best pics of each hike here in this thread. Look for the 2007 thread to begin soon with a snowshoe hike in mind! Quote
+Recdiver Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Hmmm...do they have a weight limit on how much tonnage a snow shoe will hold up? Quote
+TotemLake Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 Hmmm...do they have a weight limit on how much tonnage a snow shoe will hold up? I can tell you without a doubt a 36" boat held up 280 lbs (that's me plus backpack), in soft snow over 6 feet deep. In the below picture, the pole was extended to 5 feet. I'm not touching the ground with it, and I didn't touch the ground when I stuck the pole down with my arm in the snow to the elbow. Quote

+TotemLake Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 One of my requested breaks. You were foraging berries just off the trail. As for the next hike... I haven't planned it yet. I'll be looking at hydnsek's suggestion of a snowshoe hike here or something similar. Quote
