markandlynn Posted March 24, 2006 Share Posted March 24, 2006 For all the lakes buy OL4 and OL6 but i would recomend buying the harveys hillwalking maps when you get there they are much easier to use than the OSmaps as they dont have to show county boundaries and other things just whats on the ground. As for caches when we went last year the scenery makes all the caches worthwhile. Quote Link to comment

+gingerbreadmen Posted April 9, 2006 Share Posted April 9, 2006 If you've not already set off, which judging by the traffic going up there yesterday you may already have, try the Mardale Madness round. Great caches, wonderful scenery and some good walking (not mentioning some fiendish puzzles which you only need to solve to find the 8th, final cache). Oh, nearly forget, it's off the beaten track so nowhere near the amount of muggles that you get around the Langdales etc. Quote Link to comment

The basic map on the cache pages includes neither of these towns which just happen to be 2 of the 3 most important towns to the lakes and the most visited by outdoor type tourists.
