+Blue J Wenatchee
Yesterday after some time on the beach I decided I hadnt been up on Burch Mountain yet this year so with a full tank and new tires I headed up to check out the new PUD powerline. While I was in the area I decided that the area needed some more caches so there are a couple of new ones to make the trip up there enjoyable. The ruts are mostly all gone and the road was pretty good all the way to the gate. I started geocaching in June of 2005 and joined this hide a month club but havent hid one in a while. But for the 16 months I have enjoyed caching I have 17 hides so I hope that counts to the group. Blue J Edited September 29, 2006 by Blue J Wenatchee Quote Link to comment
+g-people
Oh yippee!!! I was in Seattle all week and could only cache minimally (no caching alone after too many scary close calls) so I am so excited to get home and see there are a bunch of new caches to do. Thanks and of course your hides count ! Quote Link to comment

You plant 3 caches in my backyard, I have a new SUV I'm not allowed to take into the hills, the 4x4 truck is parked at SeaTac and to really make sure I can't get those FTF's, I have to work 2 - 12 hour shifts this weekend. +Ambrosia
I've done most of the caches that I can do in this area right now. I've been caching in other places: Moses Lake, Quincy, Seattle area, Idaho, and all in between. I've also been going a bit with Waymarking. It's easy to do and doesn't depend on caches being where I am. Quote Link to comment
+g-people
well my 2 hides last month didn't work out so I have to find new places for them. Thinking up another run on winter time puzzle caches. I have a couple in mind. You're right. Things have quieted down here in Cachecadian Land. I never thought I'd see the day I would lose enthusiasm for the game, but I have. But then my life has been pretty crazy these past few months with business travel. I'll do my best to get my one a month average commitment in this year. So I think I have hidden 10 this year, so 2 more to go by the end of December. I think I can do that. Now to find locations where I'm not over saturating the area. Quote Link to comment
+Barnabirdy(s)
In town yesterday and yes, Dehydrated was messed up again. We pulled it and archived it, we will probably re-establish it up here where we can keep an eye on it. Meanwhile we put out a new hide near the Dehydrated site, hopefully this won't get us in trouble with the approvers and the "proximity rule". It is in the Q now. We didn't have time to check Anchors Aweigh, got home at 2315 as it was [] K&A Quote Link to comment

We didn't have time to check Anchors Aweigh, got home at 2315 as it was [] K&A There shouldn't be any trouble with the approvers and the "proximity rule" unless the cache is within 0.1 miles of another cache, or even if its over 0.1 mile, say 0.2 mile, if its near a fairly new hide, it could get nixed, until such time, say 3 or 4 months have passed, and the nearby cache is no longer "new", then it may suddenly get approved. This is what I have learned from experience. Anyway, I made the area less saturated today by archiving another one of my caches. Appleatchee Multi is now gone. Now what to do with that ammo can? +Recdiver
We did talk about a new way to place caches this weekend at the event at Marymoor park. Kinda of an offset cache. You load a micro as a sabot-type shotgun slug, you get the coords for where you are standing and the heading for where you are aiming then fire it into a field. As a hint you'd tell them what gauge of shotgun you used and what type of load you used so they can figure out how far it could have traveled. It's not so hard when people take you to caches, and your husband starts caching in earnest on trips with you because he feels sorry for you. I just can't really maintain the ones that I have, so setting out more is silly. Both me finding more and me hiding less are a big indicator of how my year has gone, if you know what you're looking for. Quote Link to comment

Remember a couple of years ago how fun it was to see new caches pop up all the time. It's not that way anymore. You can only find caches if others hide them (thats how the game works). But if only a minority of geocachers are hiding them on a regular basis, and the non-participants are enjoying the fruits, then it seems unfair. At this time I am rescinding my commitment to hide one a month. I also motion that this club be disbanded. Do I hear a second? Quote Link to comment

Geez, I hope I'm not reading this right, but IMO, that comes across kind of snotty. Kind of like a pouty child gathering up his crayons and not wanting to play anymore. Is this how you wanted it to come across? I don't know if your post to pointed to certain individuals or is a shotgun blast to get responses, but as it is, those responses may be more negative than you were intending. Now, as a local cacher who has just done a fair amount of caching a few days ago, many of them yours, and having only placed 3 caches in the last 7 months, I can't help but feel slammed by your post. Was this your intention? Quote Link to comment
+Patudles
I think the cache a month is a fun thing for those who want to participate. I participated in it the first year. I did not commit to it last year although my hides were kept counted anyway. I personally do not have the time or the energy to be on a schedule to hide a cache on a time schedule. I will hide my caches when I have time and when I find a place I feel I would like to put one. No schedule or no commitments. If it is 1 a year or 24 a year. I hope this isn't going to get to be a if you don't hide a cache I won't either scenerio. When I started caching there were only a handful of caches in the valley. My friends and I started putting out some and new people joined in including Navigatorz. Now our valley is full of caches. But my reason for putting out a cache is not to supply anyone with a cache to find. It is because I happen to like the spot and want to share it for some odd reason, or just to do something fun. The reason for hiding your caches should be because you want to. You want to bring others to this special spot or you enjoy the fun of creating masterful puzzles, and/or it brings you pleasure. If you enjoy watching people come to your spots or doing your puzzles then keep it up. If you are only putting our caches so others will recipocate then that is the wrong reason and will not bring you any pleasure so it might be a good idea not to do it anymore. Follow your caching heart and have fun. Don't feel like you have to put out caches just for us and no one else it doing it. Put it out when you feel like it and have fun instead.
