Okay To Take Signature Items?

Is it okay to take custom wooden nickels that previous cachers have left?? Or do the owners usually want the item to stay in the cache as a sign of their discovery? TIA!

They are for you to take. A lot of people collect other peoples sig. items.

I love to collect them and leave them. Sometimes when I see a signature item that someone has worked really hard on, or I realize they came from a long distance away, I'll talk myself out of taking it just because I want other people to be sure to see it too. It's all part of my psychosis, though.

 

I love to hear from people who find my sig items. I get a lot of emails and comments from people who find and wear my lighthouse pins.

i paint my own nickels and love for people to pick them up.. love finding what others place..they are there for you to enjoy..and collect if you want.

Same here. I love to take sig items and I love to leave mine. I leave mine for fellow cachers. If a cache owner gets it, that is fine, too !

sometimes people do make their sigs into a traveler but you should be able to identify those.

I love collecting wooden nickels and sig. items, I have my own that I leave in caches, and hope people pick them up and enjoy. If anyone would like to trade sig. items let me know, I'm kinda partial to the wooden nickels but I also really enjoy homemade items. I'm always looking for new items and ideas. - 57'

For a while I collected sig items. Then realized I had way too many. So I got an ammo can and glued all those sig items onto the outside. I had some neat logs by the people whose sig items I had glued on the can. They all seemed to enjoy it.

Where do you get wooden nickels to make your own? I have been leaving dove pins that I bought through an internet Christian store and people love them.

i buy mine from old time wooden nickels in texas do a search.. great people to work with. or email me and i will scare up the addy for you.

Another alternative for sig tokens is inkjet shrinky dink plastic.

 

I know that Michael's craft stores carry them, as I'm sure some others do.

Inspired by "Laughing Terry" I made up some sig items that are business card stock with graphics and on one side it says "Geocacher Working Nearby" "This car is not abandoned". You can put it on your dash in plain site.

I leave signature items specifically to be taken. Thats the fun of it. Hopefully it lands in the hands of a collector.
