How To Start Anarea Geochaching Club When You Dont Know Where Any One Lives

I would like to start a Western Colorado geochaching club but I hate sending what sounds like junk mail to people who do not list an address in profile?

 

Any idea on how to approach this????????

Check the caches in your area to see who is usually FTF, STF, and TFT. More than likely, they live in the nearby areas.

 

Those are the people I would contact first.

 

You could also start a "Western Colorado thread similar to the ones we have for San Diego . . . although the percentage of cachers who visit the Forums is low . . .

One good way is to plan and post an event cache locally. Explain on the cache page your desire to start a local group. Many in the area will get the weekly notification listing the event, and they'll all see it pop up as a new cache. This way you'll reach most of the local cachers without resorting to spam.

 

The event will also serve as a nice way to get organized and meet each other.

 

If you plan it...they will come.

I agree with BadAndy. Set up an event cache, such as a breakfast at a local restaurant or a picnic. We have these in our area every year and we now have over 100 cachers attending regularly, and the number is growing! Be prepared for a large turnout!
