+lightmann
I contacted a person that can no longer maintain their cache and he said I could take it over. What's the procedure for officially adopting a cache? It's probably in gc.com somewhere but I looked around for a little while and couldn't find it. Comments? Thanks ahead of time. +The Leprechauns
Go to the do-it-yourself adoption tool found at http://www.geocaching.com/adopt The existing owner goes there first, fills in the GC number of his cache, and your account name as the transferee. You'll then receive an e-mail notice. Then you go to the same page, enter the GC number and accept the transfer. Quote Link to comment

+George1
That was a very helpful link but, before I wade into it, what happens if the owner is no longer avaliable? I want to adopt a cache that the owner has just disappeared. He has only placed one cache, has never found any and does not respond to any emails. The reviewer cannot seem to contact him either. I am thinking that a new cache with reference to the old name would be an easier route to go. I want to change the information on the cache page too. If I adopted it would I have access to the cache page to be able to change it? Thanks for the help with all the dumb questions. Quote Link to comment

+George1
Check out this post. Many thanks for that link. It answered all my questions. Actually Keystone is my reviewer and I have been in contact with him about this cache. Now I know how the issue should proceed. I hate to wade blind into a situation. This was really helpful.
