According to the National Inventory of Dams <http://crunch.tec.army.mil/nid/webpages/nid.cfm> there are some 76,000 dams in the U.S. Worldwide, from Aswan to Amoskeag, dams are fascinating points of interests with stories to tell and sites to see. For security reasons, they are not really suitable for traditional caches, it would seem, so a Waymark category would fit the bill. One can conceive of many variables. ~~silverquill

Dams are included in Man-made Waterfalls in the Nature Section.

Short Discription:

Outdoor man-made waterfalls, with a minimum vertical fall of 5 feet and a continuous flow of water for most of the year. This includes waterfalls created by dams, aqueducts, hydro-electric power stations, garden waterfalls, sculptures, etc.

Not all dams have a continuous flow. Some would be cross listed in the man-made waterfalls and dams, while others would only count as a dam.
