Pocket Queries Not Getting Emailed

Hi all,

I'm trying to get the pocket queries working for me and so far have them querying what I want but it isn't getting to my email. I've checked off my default email address, a zipped file, gpx, a daily query, and I've turned off all the filters on my email so I'm getting tons of junk but no pq zip files so far. What am I missing???

All I want is the 100 caches within 100 miles to me that I haven't found. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

Have you selected a day for them to run? You need to pick one of the days.

If you have you should be able to go to http://www.geocaching.com/pocket and see if the cache has run. If so check with your internet provider to make sure they don't block e-mails from Groundspeak.

Yep, I checked it to run each day and according to that page it has run and gives a time that is ran. I've created two queries in fact, and they've both run several times.

Hmm. My isp has several levels of protection from spam that you can filter. I have now turned off everyone but the lowest level -- for viruses. Should I be calling them to find out what's happening or is there anything else to check out?

When you preview the PQ, do you get the caches you are looking for?

Yes, I do. I was getting no results at first and I finally figured out what I was doing wrong there but now on preview I get exactly what I want. Just doesn't get to my email. Come to think of it, when I had it set up wrong and was getting no results, I was getting emails saying that. Now that the preview is right and there's 100 caches near me, I'm not getting the zip file in my email.

Direct the pq results to a different mail account, that will tell you a lot. :D:)

Okay, do you mean put my usual email address there in the 'different mail account' spot on the pq page, or put, say, my husbands email name there which goes essentially to the same place with a different name? Duh, sorry to be so dumb about this but I'm getting a bit frustrated with it!

Since you are getting the "no results" e-mails, it sounds like your ISP or your security software is filtering out e-mails with big zip files attached. If you have access to a GMail or Yahoo! mail account, PQ messages go through just fine to those addresses.

Different account...different ISP. Just to be clear, you are getting NO email at all, is that correct? :D

Aha, I'll try sending it to my email at work and see what happens, and maybe my brother's emal and see who gets what. Thanks! Geez it really shouldn't be this difficult!

Correct, no email at all.

Correct, no email at all.

Oh, and if it matters, I've set up notifications for new caches and stuff like that and get those email just fine.

Somebody else just sent me an email suggesting the same thing and I just went and created a yahoo email so we'll see what happens. Maybe that's the ticket! Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

But GC.COM is counting the pq the produce and not those you get per email. If you have tried to make more then 5 pq a day then gc won't produce anymore. It wil stand in red on top of the page that you try to make more then 5 pq.

You can also ask GC to witch adres the send it. if read somwere in this forum that some person had a problem. Perhaps there can also be a problem with gc.com. There is also a possibilitie that your virus scanner is blocking or outlook see's it as unwanted email. Is your emailbox emty?

Well after all that, I just checked my regular email after turning off every possible spam filter and waiting a long while, and lo and behold the zip just now came through! Now I just have to figure out what it was I changed that worked. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Does the e-mail come in almost instantly, a few minutes or hours after running the querie. I tried my first one yesterday and almost instantly i received the ZIP file. This morning I tried another one, I got the results on the search page (wich download as a .loc file :-( ) but no zip file yet...

I had that exact problem a week ago. I have been using PQs for 2.5 years, and have never had a problem. I was following all the guidelines (i.e., not over the limit of 5, ahd verified that the query had actually executed, etc). The, 3 days later, ***POOF*** the PQ comes into my inbox. I had made no recent changes to my email filters (nor had my ISP), so I have no explanation. I'm just glad it finally worked.

Glad yours did too.

I tried running the PQ for my found caches and it also shows that it has run a few days ago but I can't see the results page nor do I get an e-mail. This PQ seems very unreliable to date. Sometimes you get a result and an e-mail, sometimes you don't. Maybe I don't quite understand how the process works. I'm sure someone will be able to clarify soon

I've found that when I sent them to my Comcast account, there would be a delay in receiving them. I switched them to a Gmail account and I get them much faster.

Also, make sure that you are having them zipped. Some have reported that unzipped files are blocked by anti-spam software.

Don't worry, I get two copies of every one of mine, as well as published logs, so it all works out in the end.

I've seen emails float around in cyberworld for an entire week before being delivered. Case in point: my college roomate and I were both on a short mailing list (~20 people). An email was sent to the entire list. He got his, and asked me a question regarding it. I had not recieved the message yet, despite us both being on the SAME email servers (the entire message chain stayed in the same email system) and my address being right next to his in the TO: field. Exactly one week later, the message in question showed up in my inbox. Where it had been hiding for that week, nobody knows....
