+cjacksonii
I'm planning to be hiding a series of caches, but I have a question dealing with hiding caches. In a few of the places I want to hide a part of this series, there are a few other caches in that vicinity. In one of the locations, another cache is about 100 feet from where I want to hide one of the parts of the series. From my perspective, I'd not want to hide a cache too close to another cache. But, the question exists of is there a "common courtasy" type of rule about how much distance should be between two caches in a particular location? Thanks in advance! C. +ODragon
Yes, there is a 528 foot (or 0.1 mile) distance between your cache and the next closest. Quote Link to comment
+ODragon
From the guidelines: Cache Saturation The reviewers use a rule of thumb that caches placed within .10 miles (528 feet or 161 meters) of another cache may not be listed on the site. This is an arbitrary distance and is just a guideline, but the ultimate goal is to reduce the number of caches hidden in a particular area and to reduce confusion that might otherwise result when one cache is found while looking for another. This guideline applies to all stages of multicaches and mystery/puzzle caches, except for any “bogus” posted coordinates for a puzzle cache. On the same note, don't go cache crazy and hide a cache every 600 feet just because you can. If you want to create a series of caches, the reviewer may require you to create a multi-cache, if the waypoints are close together. Quote Link to comment
+JohnnyVegas
Frist Read the Guidlines for hidding a cache. This is the best place to start. Also make sure your GPS is running for at least 15 minutes before you take a reading. Then try navigating back to the cache location a few times to make sure your coordinates are correct Edit to add: Place the cache before you submit it as required in the guidlines, most new caches will have a number of people searching for them within a few minutes of being posted. +cjacksonii
Thanks for the help. I didn't see that in the guidelines, but I found it now. C. Jackson Quote Link to comment
+alexrudd
Place the cache before you submit it as required in the guidlines, most new caches will have a number of people searching for them within a few minutes of being posted. You can submit it as temporarily unavailable and activate it when you place it. Useful if you want to see how the cache page looks, or something. Quote Link to comment
