+SwampYankee Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Have any of you been able to get a USB cable to a Garmin to work in 2005 MS Streets & Trips? It only shows com 1 here and no USB but I thought I read somewhere that 2005 was able to read a USB port or is it just the 2006 version? Being able to do it would make it pretty nice for travel on the laptop. Thanks in advance for any input. SwampYankee Quote
robertlipe Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Your two choices for that combination are 2) If your garmin has a serial port (60, 76, 276, 296 do; vistaC, LegendC, most others don't) use it to transmit NMEA to S&T. For most users, that means buying a serial cable plus a usb->serial cable. 1) Franson GPSGate allegedly converts Garmin's proprietary PVT protocol to NMEA that can be understood by programs expecting otherwise industry-standard NMEA. +SwampYankee Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 OK, Thanks guys..... I've can do it either way....I'll see which way works the best. I was hoping there was a patch for the USB but I can live without it..... Thanks a lot... SwampYankee Quote
