Timeout

Is there some one who can help me please?

 

When I try to transfer the waypoint from MM to my Garmin GPS I have the following message: -

 

Unknown Garmin

Timeout sending packet 10

Timeout sending packet 254

 

I spent 20 minutes with a guy at MM, very helpful but couldn’t solve the problem.

 

Then spent 40 minutes with a chap at Garmin, with the same result!

 

We changed every setting in MM, the GPS and the back of the computer but still it wont transfer.

 

Has anyone had this problem and been able to sort it out?

 

I would be most grateful for any help.

You havn't set the interface to nmea for any reason have you,I forget this occaisionally and get an error.

Must be set to garmin to transfer waypoints.

Hi, I am a newbie so I can only help you so much. I have a Garmin Etrex Legend and i am able to upload all my waypoints using EASYGPS

Once they are in the programme, it is easy to upload to the Garmin. If you want a step by step list then i can do that for you. Let me know

I very often get that problem.... It seems to be something to do with the order you do things...

If I have MM up and running and then plug in my Legend and switch it on, I invariably get a timeout message if I try to transfer data.

If I plug in the Legend and turn it on, THEN start up MM there's no problem and MM recognises the Legend straight away.

 

Make sure you haven't got any other application (like MapSource) running that's using the COM port.

I've had the same problem, and it is usually due to what Pharisee says.

I switched the computer off and back on, keeping the GPS connected.
