Given the info on the website and the excellent help on the forum why would anyone need this book? b. What on earth do they do to fill 240 pages - lots of pictures? Quote Link to comment

+Simply Paul
I've read it* (there's a thread about it somewhere a year or so back) and can report it's mostly rehashed stuff you'll find online. There is some interesting stuff about how GPS works and other methods of moving about the landscape accurately and safely, but mostly it's waffle, filler and diagrams. I got mine from my local library, and wouldn't recommend anyone spends money on it *Just remembered, I think I read Idiots Guide to Geocaching. Same difference I assume! Quote Link to comment
+The Cache Hoppers
I borrowed this from the local library when we first started caching, and subsequently puchased a copy. There's a lot of useful info in there for relatively new cachers, and it's easy to read. Granted a lot of it you could read online, but not everyone has easy access to a pc at all times. It's also handy for showing to people who express an interest in geocaching or just for having on your coffee table with your twitcher or country homes magazines . Maybe a bit of a basic handbook for those who've been caching for years and know all the tricks, but excellent for many others. I'm not ready to part with my copy yet, and not ashamed to admit it, so don't ask! Liane Quote Link to comment
NickPick
Now that the search facility works, you can all read SP's original review of the book here (don't read up further up the page unless you want to know where Aylesbury Library's copy has been though! Quote Link to comment
+HazelS
It's like the Geocachers Handbook that I was bought when I was already an experienced cacher .... Lots of info if you've never heard of caching but pants if you have even done 10 caches!! Quote Link to comment
+Eco-sheep
One book is a useful reference for newbies, but Amazon do their old trick of trying to sell you two books, in this case with, I suspect, much the same content. Now THAT I struggle to see the point of. Quote Link to comment
+Woody's Wanderers
It also contains a lot of web addresses for useful links. I'm not ashamed to say that I've got a copy as well. Quote Link to comment
