+cachmeout
I am new and do not see any groups in the area I live. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to start a group? Thanks Quote Link to comment

Team Misguided
Hi there, We have several groups in the Northwest you can look into. Washington has a statewide organization called the WSGA (Washington State Geocaching Assn). Their website is http://www.geocachingwa.org and has lots of good information. We have several chapters but don't currently have one in the SW Washington area, at least not yet . Being in Vancouver there is also the option of a Portland group. Portland is a very active area with a great group of people. They have a website and forums at http://www.pdxgeocaching.com. There is an event cache being planned for the Longview area in April you should keep an eye open for that, it's a great way to meet people and find a local caching buddy. Quote Link to comment
+kiwimonster
Definately check out http://www.pdxgeocaching.com. Here's a direct link to the forums. The site is even owned by a Vancouver cacher, so you'll be quite welcome! Most Portland area cachers who hang out in forums do so there rather than here in the geocaching forums. There will be an event cache on March 20th where cachers get together and talk and eat, and who knows what else. Here is the link to the cache page. It's west side Portland, so it might be a little far for you. If you really want to start a group in Vancouver, I'd suggest getting to know people is the first step. Event caches are perfect for that sort of thing. Feel free to schedule one; you can use our event above as a model. Dont' worry to much about the theme, we make up any old excuse to get together. +Ed & Julie
My wife and I travel up from Northern California to Vancouver a couple of times a year, and we always cache there...there are some very active cachers and fun hides there If you get a caching group started, hopefully we can get up there and attend one of your events! +PastorDIC
I've wondered why there wasn't one down here myself. I don't know if it is because we are so close to Portland, or if it's just that someone good at that stuff hasn't taken the lead yet. Maybe you could get it started and the group could mint special Clark County Geocaching Charter Member geocoins. The folks at WSGA could probably tell you. +Sparrowhawk
Easist way to get a group going anywhere: Pick a local pub, declare a cache event get-together. Voila! Instant local group! Edited August 3, 2006 by Sparrowhawk Quote Link to comment
+Right Wing Wacko
Easist way to get a group going anywhere: Pick a local pub, declare a cache event get-together. Voila! Instant local group! I agree! However I would pick a pizza joint or a "pub" that has a place that can accomodate children or familys. Make it an event and "THEY WILL COME"! Quote Link to comment
