Trisco Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Folks have been talking about Muggles when they log their cache finds. I've looked in the Glossery and have searched the forums but can't find information about it. Please someone tell me what in heck is a Muggle ? Thanks ! -Trisco- Quote
briansnat Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 The term comes from the Harry Potter books, meaning the general population that is not aware of their wizard world. In the geocaching world muggles are non geocachers. It started out as Geo-muggles, but has been shortened to muggles over time. Quote
Airmapper Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 (edited) It has something to do with Harry Potter. Basically it's a non-Geocacher, someone who might disturb the cache, or look at you suspiciously. EDIT: Brian beat me to it. Edited March 5, 2006 by Airmapper Quote

Trisco Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Muggle Thanks for the email and link for the Geolex- Lexicon of Geocaching. That thing is full of great info. I just spent over an hour going through it and followng some of its links. -trisco- Quote
BilboB Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 So if I take a friend along who could care less about finding the cache, but is with me when I do, and she has been with me for more than half a dozen caches, is she still a muggle until she finds one? She has asked me on numerous occasions when she will be termed a cacher and not a muggler. Quote

Sputnik 57 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 The main concern about "muggles" is that the uninitiated my spot the cache and move/destroy/report it to NSA, ect. She may not like caching, but I wouldn't consider her a muggle. She is "in" on the secret. Quote
