+CacheMoneyPugLife
I was geocaching yesterday and I found this silver coin in it. On one side it has a pirate and on the other side there is a treasure shest and it say florida pool products. Quote Link to comment
+Eartha
It doesn't sound like a geocoin. Does it have anything on it that has anything to do with geocaching? Or a tracking number, or cachers name? It sounds more like a giveaway from the pool company. Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
Technically, a coin found in a cache is a geocoin, but I agree with Eartha. If it doesn't have something to do with caching or a geocacher, it probably isn't a "geocoin" per say. Quote Link to comment

+Eartha
Hmmmmmmmmm, worms. Just because someone puts a coin in a cache doesn't make it a geocoin. I've found pennies, quarters, nickles, dimes, euros, and Supermarket tokens. That didn't make them geocoins, just because they were in a cache, it made them swag. The pool coin was swag, a trade item, a trinket. A geocoin is a coin made for the hobby, made to be traded, sold, hidden as an FTF prize, shown off at events, given away, used a signature item, or auctioned off for a charity and probably should say something about caching. I don't think anyone is going to run out to snag a quarter or supermarket token as a FTF prize. But I guess that's just this person's opinion. Don't make me have to come in here and start monitoring pool tokens too! :0 Quote Link to comment
