This seems like an interesting place to be, like minded souls. I shall have to make my presence known some day soon.

You'd be welcome to drop in. Bring Hank, Bruce and Brian with you too - they can do the Sunday evening live music spot.

I've been unable to get in for a few days now. I get this first try:

[22:59] Connecting...

[22:59] Unable to connect : java.net.UnknownHostException : irc.nixhelp.org

then occasionally if I try again I get ThreadDeath:null

Have had trouble logging in too. The computer says 'no'...

I'll try a carrier pigeon next :P

Try Edgemasters back door:

This link works for me.

To be honest lads (those that created the site etc..), it's a great addition, it is really. However, it "seems" to have been created by users of firefox/mac/othernonconforming/not-explorer users.

Just my 02.

Paul

The site just provides and easy route of access to irc , the java in use was developed by A.N.Other and just put onto the webpage.

I can however say that it works on pretty much any OS , and browser combination.

There are numerous IRC clients if you don't want the 'in browser' experience, one of the common problems is opening something in the browser window that is currently running the chat client.

I came, I knocked, I was let in, I said hello....but there was nobody there...or at other times people ignored me even though they were chatting :)

:):D

Oh well, Ce'st La Vie

That happens some times i'm afraid, i used to go in there quite a bit, but i don't now. There are some very nice peolple in there though. It's the same as any party you go to, some will speak and some won't, and not everyone logs out of the room when they are not near the pc.

Persever, i'm sure the tea trolley will be around soon.

Good luck

Terry

I used to be in there a lot too but university research work has knocked things on the head for me as I now spend more time procrastinating about the early Iron Age than picking up my GPS :)

I miss being able to chat to human beings - more fun than long term dead things lurking on laboratory shelves

Lucky for me that I study in a city crammed with caches :)

Edited to add: Have brought some Stollen cake with me and some Gluhwein to share around the room. Will there be room on Mrs. B's trolley? :D
