Ellteejak
Has anyone used a BT338 unit with a PDA? I am looking at this little thing. It is Bluetooth. It can work with the TOMTOM software on a PDA. It has a long battery life. It has 20 channel accuracy (most other GPS have only 12 channel or 16 channel accuracy). Quote Link to comment
Pasha
Here's the search results for "BT338" in this forum over the last 90 days. Lots of people have used them. I'm thinking of getting one myself. Quote Link to comment
Cache Heads
I have one and it's great. Works flawlessly with Tomtom and CacheMate on my Palm. Great reception, fast lock time, easy to slip into a pocket or a backpack-- even keeps its lock in the glove compartment. It's not necessarily a replacement for a standalone GPSr but as a PDA/Laptop accessory, I'd recommend it . Here's a topic I started on this a while back. +GOT GPS?
Surpised that you didn't check the GPS Inventory thread, and there are 2 of them there I believe, under "OTHER" Quote Link to comment
sarhound
I love my GlobalSat BT338. Just got it last weekend and I've been flying around with an iPAQ and Mapopolis all over BFE with only the occasional hiccup-- usually when I'm so far out that the dirt roads don't show on the map. HAL gets a little frantic when I overshoot a turn, yelling "Turn around! Turn around!" He eventually settles down and reroutes when he figures out that I'm not going to cooperate. He even survived a fall where I thought I squished him (the BT unit was in a pouch on my belt, and the PDA was in it's hard case in a fanny pack.) Not only did he survive the fall; I kept a satellite lock, to boot. HAL is my new best friend. Quote Link to comment
DrAwKwArD
I just received one from ebay on Monday for $70.00. Great little unit.. love the leather belt clip! I'm finding that it works great with Street Atlas handheld and battery life is superb. Unfortunately, paired with my PDA it really sucks the juice off the handheld. I'll probably purchase a cheap standalone to use when in conjunction with the bt338. Quote Link to comment
GOT GPS?
The most channels ever needed would be 14, like in the Magellan eXplorist models, where 2 channels can be used for WAAS, and the other 12 channels for regular GPS satellites.
