+Woody's Wanderers Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 If a TB is dropped off in one of our own caches, is it the 'done thing' to go and collect it or is this frowned upon? Should we be leaving it for other cachers to pick up? Just after some views. Thanks, Quote

Thanks, i dont see anything wrong with picking it up from your own cache.. i left a geocoin in a cache the other month and the owner of the cache picked it up and moved it on.. B. Quote
+The Northumbrian Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Nothing wrong with doing that. Your helping the bug on it travels Nige Quote
alistair_uk Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Agreed, just treat the cache as any other cache that you have found, and as discussed recently it is totally acceptable to go and collect a coin from a cache that you have found. Quote
+little-miss-naughty Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 i would only collect the bug out of my own cache if it had been in there for a length of time although if its an icon i dont have then id be straight there. LMN Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 You know what I want from people who pick up a Travel Bug? A good story. Quote
+The Mars Bars Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 As far as I'm concerned picking up and dropping off TB's and coins from your own or any cache that you have found previously should be encouraged. Caches serve two purposes:- 1) to be found and logged. 2) as fixed points on the globe to deposit and retrieve travellers. Cheers Dave Quote
+qichina Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I think if it's not moving for some reason, then it's probably a good thing to help relocate it. Fine if it's your own cache. However, I don't think it's very 'sporting' to re-visit someone else's cache just to grab a TB or geocoin. Part of the reward of tracking down a cache, particularly a difficult one, is the 'treasure' to be found if successful. If you know where a cache is and go back and 'loot' whatever you fancy, whenever you like, you just spoil the fun of the hunt for others who are getting tthere for the first time. Quote

Caches are available to drop bugs and coins time after time. I have used one in the centre of Paris a couple of times as a convenient staging post to enable coins and TB's to get a good start on their journey. +John Stead Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I see no reason at all for not visiting any cache, one's own or another, to pick up a TB provided one does not log it as a found cache and simply logs a note. TBs are meant to travel and should not be left to languish too long in any cache or anywhere else - oh dear I've just realized that I've had one TB for a couple of weeks!!! Quote
