Google is really no help.:laughing:

Google helped me big time! I have learned so much about Grateful Dead in the last several hours thanks to Google and hours of research to try to narrow down this process! I gotta get this coin...it is way to cool!

Are we going to have more contests like this? I'm lovin' it!!!!

Dang Dave, and I had high hopes for you, lol! No, that's not it. The Dead fans of this bunch are really going to kick themselves when the song is revealed. I can feel it.

Tomorrow's clue should do it for someone (I hope).

After you shot my Monkey last night :D , it came down to two guesses for me and I chose this one. I'll throw the other one into the pot tommorow, if it fits with the clue, and we'll see how I do.

Since none of the other songs in my top 10 ( or 12, lol) fit anymore as guesses cause of the clues given, I'll provide them. That will also keep people from making incorrect guesses :D

Perhaps looking through this thread at my favorites will be a bonus clue of sorts:

Tied with Midnight Hour is Brokedown Palace (a Jerry tune)

The Weight (everybody take a verse tune)

Standing on the Moon and So Many Roads are tied (both Jerry tunes)

And my number #1 favorite song is........

Ok, I want someone to get this already and then have one of those "duh moments" when the palm of the hand whaps the forhead.

I'm giving you TWO clues

CLUE #3:

This song is not on any Grateful Dead "studio recorded" album/CD.

CLUE #4:

The original recording of this song is from the 1930s.

Good luck!

I'm going to say no. Cause that wouldn't be fair to the others still playing. Sorry.

No, Mike, that's not it either :D

Darn - Origionally from 1938

Sung by Bobby in 80s.

I thought I had it LOL

You were close. Definitely the right idea.

Nope, not Ramble on Rose either. I've seen that song performed live a bunch of times. Probably in excess of 20 times.

Guess what, I just realized I screwed something up on a bonus hint. Soooo, the current contest has to close.

I have a replacement that shouldn't take too long. So everyone that guessed today can guess again.

Crap. I knew I had to have screwed something up for no one to get this.

Answer was - Man Smart, Woman Smarter. Otherwise known as Women Are Smarter. First recorded in 1936 by King Radio. Made a hit by Harry Belafonte in the 1950s. First performed by the Grateful Dead in 1981 in Houston.

The bonus question should have been the final clue if needed... Never saw the song performed live since my first show. I spaced it on my notes when I included it as a bonus hint. I'm sorry.

Crap!!!

What is the last Grateful Dead show I attended before Jerry died?

I need the exact date (day/mo/year), the venue name and the city, state.

Since this is a new contest. What is you favorite Grateful Dead song?

Nice.

Technically the question was true. I didn't "see" the Grateful Dead perform Women R. I was too busy arguing with my boyfriend at the time out in the atrium, lol. However, that would have made it a trick question, which was not my intent.
