Hi folks,

Just to let you know that I have now ordered a GPS Unit, the unfortunate thing the model I have ordered is out of stock, so going to have to wait a little while for the order to be processed.

I have gone for the Garmin eTrex and I've also signed up for premium membership, so now it seems I have to make a go of this hobby even though I haven't started yet. :(

I might set up a blog detailing the adventures of a virgin geo-cacher.

If the addiction takes hold, you'll realise, as we all did, that your signup name becomes your identity. People will greet you at meets, happily call you wizard1974uk, and buy you a pint as you regale them with caching tales.

As long as I don't have to wear a long pointy hat and carry a huge staff around.

A Wizard's Staff has a knob on the end!!!.......... at least, it does according to Terry Pratchett

All of which has absolutely nothing to do with geocaching.. sorry :D

Who needs a torch with a glow in the dark knob on your staff? :D

Edit: bah humbug, don't you hate it when somethings stop working my domain name has stopped forwarding to my blog, so only the wordpress.com url is working, I'll edit my other post and removing the non-functioning entry.

I think my unit has arrived, got a card from Royal Mail telling me about a packet I have to sign for :(

Good luck on the hunt, If you need any advice just drop me a line, I only live a dozen or so miles away. So have done a few of the caches near you.

I have got my unit, just got to dig some batteries out and buy a lead to hook it up to my comp, not took it out of it's packaging yet, but I never realised how small the unit actually is.

What unit did you go for?

Its a good unit, You don't need to wait for the cable, you can enter coords in manually until the cable arrives, the cable just cuts down on errors typing them in :cute:

Tip 1) If your not sure of the area don't forget to way mark your car before you leave it :cute::D

Tip 2) start with easy cache (1 or 2 difficulty)

Tip 3) Enjoy the hunt :D

wow post 3000!!! must get out more :lol:
