+GadgetMonster
Hi folks, i am trying to remove the garmin auto dash mount and get seem to pry it up. I used the permenant adhesive. I'm wondering if there is a trick to it or not. Any help is appreciated. Quote Link to comment
+Munin
No first-hand experience (I use the beanbag mount), but there was one of those permanent mounting disks in my Garmin Auto Nav kit. I dug up the installation sheet that came with the kit, and one of the tidbits it mentions is: "If permanent adhesive is later removed, use rubbing alcohol to clean any adhesive residue." Sounds like the glue is soluble in rubbing alcohol. Perhaps try some putting some around the edges of the pad and see if that loosens up the adhesive? Quote Link to comment
+Bzzliteyr
You might try using a hair dryer to soften it up before you try prying at it..I used that technique to remove the hard plastic auto spam on my sport truck when I first had it delivered, and they are super sticky! vfrpilot
Also, you might try the Goof-Off, its fantastic. But try the Color damage in a safe area 1st Quote Link to comment
ImpalaBob
Definitly heat the area up with a hair dryer or heat gun ..... carefully .... I like Goo-gone (Home depot). Goo-gone is also nice to have with you to get pine sap off your hands. ImpalaBob Quote Link to comment
