Firmware Update 2.50 For Garmin 60csx

Well, for what it's worth, Garmin just posted an update for the 60CSx. Unfortunately, there's no fix for the issues that's been being discussed here on the forum, like wandering, alarm clock, dumb icons, TransFlash icon, etc. All it does, to quote Garmin is:

Fixed compatibility issues with preprogrammed data cards. Some cards may not unlock properly with software version 2.40

I guess they want to get those expensive pre-progamed data cards selling first thing. To heck with the real issues that really need addressing? :(

I just sent Garmin and email asking them to address the following, you all should do the same. The more complaints, the faster the fix :(

1) Please add back the alarm clock

2) Please add an icon for checking memory usage on the transflash card

3) Please add and option under battery for Lithium

If I forgot anything please add it when you send the email.

Another Question: comes the firmware 2.5 with german display language?

Here is some of what we sent to Garmin regarding new functions on the old 60C,60CS,76C and 76CS series.

1. Possibility to remove the top line in Map modus (it takes 18 pixels)

2. Transparent fields, sp that you can see the Map trough the letters.

3. The possibility the change the size of the data field. Same as the 76S

I like one big and 2 small etc.

4. Speed change between profiles. Like Car, Walking, Plane, Boat etc

This is implemented in 76CS Plus and it is in the 276C

5. Larger Track log

6. There are only 10 proximity alarms. Add POI support for the GPS like

Quest2 and the new Street Pilot

7. Audio warning before the GPS turns it self off, due to empty battery.

8. Keyboard lock.

9. Information of Waas/Egnos in the statusbar.

10. When driving with Autoroute on. In tunnel and other places were you will lose

the GPS signal, make the GPS to simulate following the road. Lots of tunnel

with bends.

Did Garmin do anything about it?

PS this was sent by multiple people in February 2005
